Google Initiating Updates for Its Nexus Tablets

Google is undertaking several changes to upgrade its Nexus branded tablets. Apart from updating its current system features, Google is also on the verge of launching a new widget. However, the widget, Google Now, can only be accessed and functional once the system upgrade is completed.

Google launching on-the-air system upgrade

Owners of the gadgets can expect system update for their devices within days to come. Google is planning to launch a system update drive for its devices like Nexus 10 and 7, along with a GSM variant of Galaxy Nexus. Sources are also telling that Android 4.2.2 is made available and owners of the devices would be allowed to update their systems over the air. Until now, Google’s Android devices are running on Jelly Bean, version 4.2.1.

According to reports available from various sources, Nexus variants of Google are showing screenshots from Android Police. The update is said be of 47.6MB with a build number JDQ39. It is expected that all users of Google Android tablet would be able to receive the update within a very short period.

However, Google has not confirmed this information officially. No details of Android 4.2.2 have yet been released from the company. Still then, from the reports received from users who have updated their systems it is clear that Google’s system update would include benefits of bug fixing and even enhancement of device performance. Report of the update also informs that the problem related to streaming of Bluetooth audio has been fixed to a certain level. There is still occasional disconnection of Bluetooth when switching of network between Wi-Fi to Mobile data takes place.

Google to offer a widget – Google Now

In addition to the advantage of upgrading systems of Android tablets, Google is also planning to offer services of Google Now for its Nexus users. Google Now is a personal feature of Android 4.1 and even Android 4.2 versions of Jelly Bean. After up gradation, Nexus users would automatically be able to check current weather reports, deliver scores of favorite sports, handle boarding passes, commute home and perform several other duties. Google Now is described as an integral part of the application, Google Search.

However, nothing has yet been made clear regarding the time when Google Now would be available. Rumors are also doing rounds that the update of Google Now can take place automatically through its system update, or it may even be available as a separate package through Google Play Store. Experts are of the opinion that the company would provide Google Now widget through its Play Store. It is a known fact that Google has always offered its core applications through the store, rather than through any system update.

A support documentation on the website of Google, although removed lately, has even boosted information regarding release of Google Now for Androids within a short time. A screenshot, available at the widget, even shows one tool featuring three areas – stock prices, weather and commuting. Gadget analysts are of the opinion that users would be able to customize the tools of the widget, once it is available.
